The Center for Inclusive Growth is the philanthropic hub at Mastercard. The organization seeks to ensure that the benefits of an expanding economy accrue to all segments of society. Through actionable research, impact data science, programmatic grants, stakeholder engagement and global partnerships, the Center advances equitable and sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion around the world. The Center’s work is at the heart of Mastercard’s objective to be a force for good in the world.  

The Vice President for Strategy and Campaigns plays a substantive role in achieving the long-term vision of the Center by engaging audiences and stakeholders with cutting-edge thought leadership and narrative creation. This key role will support the organization to position us as the leading private sector voice on how to achieve equitable and sustainable economic growth. The VP is responsible for aggregating assets across the company and among the Center’s partners and grantees to achieve impact and influence through strong campaigns, creative content and innovative engagement strategies. The incumbent will effectively engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, playing a central role in the organization’s strategy to grow a community of influencers on the front lines of inclusive growth. This position requires leadership and management experience and concentrated knowledge in the areas of communications, marketing and campaigns, digital media and content production, and strategic engagement / narrative shaping. The ideal candidate should have broad knowledge of economics, finance, geopolitics, financial inclusion and social impact/ESG. 


Lead the Center’s Strategic Engagement Team, responsible for: developing and publishing compelling thought leadership content; managing the Center’s digital properties and content strategy; forging and maintaining strong partnerships and developing campaigns 

Supervise staff and consultants and manage interactions with key internal and external stakeholders 

Aggregate assets across Mastercard as well as the Center’s research and programmatic partners to position the organization as a leader in driving social impact 

Represent the Center and support the leadership in handling engagement with key stakeholders, including private sector partners, media outlets, government officials, research institutions and philanthropic leaders 

Provide creative and strategic guidance to shape Center-led convenings, which bring together top tier academics with public sector officials and economic development experts 

Source opportunities to recognize and amplify the Center’s research, programs and partnerships 

Implement key aspects of the Center’s strategic plan by creating benchmarks and metrics to ensure that the Strategic Engagement and Strategic Partnership Teams are achieving quarterly and annual goals 

Ensure clear, consistent and timely communication with teams across Mastercard to maximize impact, reduce duplication and stay aligned on priorities 

All About You: 

Executive experience that demonstrates public and private sector knowledge 

Leadership, judgement and strategic-visioning skills, as well as management and supervisory skills, including the ability to effectively manage a professional staff and provide a grounding framework for the goals and direction of the Center 

A track record of successfully implementing a strategic plan 

A detail-oriented problem solver, responsible for managing in a complex environment that requires excellent communication skills, the ability to nurture meaningful relationships and the credibility to have license to operate from the perspectives of Mastercard’s executive leadership 

Creative, opportunistic and capable of formulating ideas and implementing tactics that will deepen the Center’s expertise, enable scaling of its interventions, unlock the potential of its data assets and raise the visibility of its work 

Thrives in a fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds and a sense of urgency; able to effectively manage people and processes in order to meet tight deadlines with high quality work products 

Open to new ways of thinking and acting in order to maximize how private sector assets are leveraged to achieve the social impact mission of the Center 

Has a diverse network of innovative problem-solvers and critical thinkers who can help inform and guide the incumbent’s work; able to draw upon multi-disciplinary relationships across a spectrum of issue areas and levels  

Excellent communication skills: writing, presenting, public speaking and interpersonal; should be able to serve as a trusted spokesperson for the Center to a wide range of audiences 

Integrity, high ethical standards, empathy and the ability to command respect from superiors, peers and subordinates 

Entrepreneurial ability and comfort operating with ambiguity 

A demonstrated commitment to doing good with a solid reputation related to social purpose or a related field 

Work experience in the public sector and private sector a plus 

Experienced leading people, projects and campaigns

COVID-19 Considerations 

We value the safety of each member of our community because we know we’re all in this together. In many locations, which may change over time, we’ve implemented a virtual hiring process and continue to interview candidates by video or phone. In addition, in some locations, only individuals who have been fully vaccinated will be permitted inside Mastercard offices until further notice.
