On the 12th of October 2020, The President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari officially launched the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme (P-YES) in the Presidential Villa, as a sustainable response mechanism to the growing challenges of unemployment, youth restiveness and poverty among the fast growing youth population.
WHY P-YES?

There exists in Nigeria a large army of youth who have attained the status of economic hopelessness and despondency.

These vulnerable youth have become ready resources for the propagation of criminal activities.

Successive empowerment programmes seem to have excluded this category of Nigerian youth.

P-YES is designed to capture this excluded category of youth who are in urgent need of immediate intervention and rescue.
MISSION
Strengthen and unleash the potential of youth’s participation in the mainstream economy by raising the value and the profile of youth participation in national economy and designing support programmes suitable to this end.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has reopened Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme (P-yes) for teeming Nigerians.
The application is fresh and currently ongoing. An individual can apply for the programme through the official Application Portal.

Four Pillars of P-yes Programme to Understand
1. REDUCE POVERTY
To fight and reduce unemployment among Nigerian youth by creating at least 774,000 jobs through direct youth empowerment targeting to deliver 1000 jobs per local government.
2.EMPOWER THE YOUTH
To empower youth to have the capacity to empower at least one other youth within their immediate community in the shortest time possible.
3. CREATE WEALTH
To create wealth among the growing youth population and guarantee sustained income for target groups.
4. Eliminate CRIME
To strategically eliminate the scourge of criminality and drug abuse among the youth by empowering them to be productively engaged.
