Introduction: Embracing Global Excellence with Rhodes Scholarships

Rhodes Scholarships have long been a beacon of educational distinction, historically awarded in 20 constituencies spanning over 60 countries. Breaking barriers, the Rhodes Global Scholarships have emerged, opening doors for eligible candidates worldwide, subject to nomination. This prestigious scholarship seeks exceptional young leaders driven to confront global challenges, fostering international understanding and peace.

Oxford University in the UK

Level/Fields of Study:

Any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford, with exceptions.

Eligibility and Criteria

Students not affiliated with existing Rhodes constituencies

Scholarship Value/Inclusions/Duration:

A Rhodes Scholarship encompasses all University and College fees, a generous living stipend (£18,180 per annum 2022-23), settling-in allowance, health insurance, visa, and two economy class flights to and from the UK at the commencement and conclusion of Oxford studies. The scholarship spans two years, contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and personal conduct.

Eligibility Criteria:

a. Nationality/Citizenship:

Eligibility for Global Scholarships applies if you are ineligible for any existing Rhodes constituency. Candidates with a strong connection but not meeting eligibility criteria should explore inter-jurisdictional considerations.

b. Age:

Candidates must meet either of the following criteria:

i. Aged 18-23 on 1st October 2023, born after 1 October 1999 and before 2 October 2005.


ii. Under 27 on 1st October 2023 (born after 1 October 1996), completed the first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2022.

c. Academic Achievement:

Completion, or expected completion by July 2024, of an undergraduate degree meeting or exceeding entry requirements of the chosen course at the University of Oxford. A First Class Honours Degree or a GPA of 3.70/4.0 enhances chances due to intense international competition.

d. English Language Proficiency:

Sufficiently high English language standard, meeting Oxford University’s proficiency requirements at the Higher Level listed.

e. Reapplication:

If unsuccessful initially, candidates may reapply once more (in the same constituency) while meeting eligibility criteria.

Application process

Applications are presently closed. Prospective applicants should submit their Rhodes Scholarship application before applying for the desired Oxford course. Successful candidates then apply for their chosen course through the University of Oxford’s graduate application form, with Rhodes House team support. The application incurs no fee, but submission must be online.
